Publication Ethics & Malpractice Statement

The Journal of Integrated Innovation Science (J-IIS), published by Universitas Pahlawan Tuanku Tambusai, is committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics. This statement is based on the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors and applies to all parties involved in the act of publishing: the editors, the peer reviewers, the authors, and the publisher.

Duties of Editors

  • Publication decisions. The Editor-in-Chief is responsible for deciding which of the submitted articles should be published, guided by the editorial board and bound by legal requirements regarding libel, copyright infringement, and plagiarism.
  • Fair play. Manuscripts are evaluated solely on their intellectual content without regard to the authors' race, gender, religion, ethnicity, citizenship, or political philosophy.
  • Confidentiality. The editors and editorial staff must not disclose any information about a submitted manuscript to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, and the publisher.
  • Disclosure and conflicts of interest. Unpublished materials disclosed in a submitted manuscript must not be used in an editor's own research without the written consent of the author.

Duties of Reviewers

  • Contribution to editorial decisions. Peer review assists editors in making editorial decisions and helps authors improve their manuscripts.
  • Promptness. A reviewer who feels unqualified or unable to review promptly should notify the editor and withdraw from the review process.
  • Confidentiality. Manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential documents.
  • Standards of objectivity. Reviews should be conducted objectively, with observations formulated clearly and supported by arguments.
  • Acknowledgement of sources. Reviewers should identify relevant published work that has not been cited by the authors and alert the editor to any substantial similarity with other work.

Duties of Authors

  • Reporting standards. Authors should present an accurate account of the work performed and an objective discussion of its significance.
  • Originality and plagiarism. Authors must ensure the work is entirely original and must appropriately cite or quote the work and words of others. Submissions are screened using plagiarism-detection software.
  • Multiple or concurrent publication. Authors should not submit the same manuscript to more than one journal concurrently.
  • Acknowledgement of sources. Proper acknowledgement of the work of others must always be given.
  • Authorship. Authorship should be limited to those who made a significant contribution. All co-authors must approve the final version and its submission for publication.
  • Disclosure and conflicts of interest. All authors must disclose any financial or other substantive conflict of interest.
  • Fundamental errors. When an author discovers a significant error in their own published work, it is their obligation to promptly notify the editor and cooperate to retract or correct the paper.

Duties of the Publisher

Universitas Pahlawan Tuanku Tambusai, as the publisher, is committed to ensuring that editorial decisions remain independent of commercial considerations and to maintaining the integrity of the academic record. In cases of alleged or proven scientific misconduct, the publisher will work closely with the editors to take all appropriate measures to clarify the situation and to amend the article in question.

This statement follows the COPE Code of Conduct and Best Practice Guidelines and may be updated periodically by the editorial board.
